RunScribe Plus Watch Support

Garmin Watches w/ RunScribe Connect IQ DataField App(s) [ANT Compatible]

We’ve done an extensive amount of testing w/ RunScribe Plus, and have found varying degrees of performance among the the various Garmin Connect IQ1 and IQ2 watch variants. With our dual-pod implementation, and additional metrics, we’re providing more data, but also asking more of your watch, and not every Garmin watch is up to the task.

  • Supported Watches : FR935, FR735XT, and Fenix 5x
  • Working (under certain conditions*) : FR235
  • Not Recommended : Fenix 5, Fenix 5s

* – Native ANT+ devices, such as Garmin HR straps, Running Dynamics pods, and others, all take priority over the ‘non-ANT+’ communication that is used by the RunScribe+ pods, often times blocking the incoming signals from the pod even when you’re not wearing your pairded HRM/chest-strap.

This list is by no means final. We will continue to test additional watches, with a view to finding the best way to support as many as possible, but also want to make sure that we’re delivering the best possible RunScribe+ experience to you.

Suunto Watches [Bluetooth Smart Compatible]

We support (2) of the standard Bluetooth Smart (Low Energy) Services:

  • Running Speed/Cadence Service
  • Cycling Power Service

Both of these services are limited to their specific definitions and interoperability modes. In both cases, these are ‘listen only’ protocols, meaning that they don’t intrinsically allow your watch to the control the RunScribe pods. The Running Speed/Cadence provides footpot level accuracy as a replacement for GPS based pace/distance. Cycling Power is usable on a growing number of watches as a vehicle to deliver Running Power, but isn’t compatible on all devices in running mode [Suunto Ambit 3 series is fully compatible]
